Manchester is the UK’s largest single site university and has the highest volume of high quality research in the UK; it ranks in the world’s top 40 universities. Two research groups based in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences and the Manchester Academic Health Sciences Centre are involved in ASSURE. The Imaging Sciences research group has 26 academic members of staff in the disciplines of computer vision, medical image analysis and image processing, medical imaging and clinical radiology. The Manchester Centre for Health Economics has 22 health economists. The Centre has two primary methodological areas of focus: methods of economic evaluation and valuation of health care interventions; and econometric methods to explore the impact of financial incentives and resource allocation formulae in healthcare and the healthcare workforce.
